Merced County Fair by the Numbers Fun Statistics from the 2007 Merced County Fair: 2,000 ribbons first, second, third place, honorable mention and participation ribbons -- awarded to winning exhibitors in all exhibit buildings from Kids’ Art to Home Arts. 4,000 milkshakes sold at the 4-H Milk Bar near Livestock. Vanilla is still No. 1, but there are a lot of chocolate fans. More than 2,000 18-inch corndogs -- served up at the “Hot Dog on a Stick” concession. 207 job applications and 323 “You’re Hired” workshop flyers handed out at the City of Merced booth in the Commercial Building. And enough fairgoers’ signatures on a petition to keep the Bell Station Federal Building a post office. 900 lollipops awarded to fairgoers who correctly answered questions about mosquitoes at the Mosquito Abatement District booth in the Ag Building. 600 pounds of lemons squeezed to make gallons and gallons of fresh lemonade for thirsty fairgoers at Clint’s Lemonade Stand, inside the giant yellow lemon. 190 facials and hundreds of free make-up applications -- at the L’Bel Paris salon bus. 6,866 photos of happy fairgoers taken by photographers at the “Fairground Foto” booth near the main entrance gate. $443,184 the livestock auction grand sales total. Over at Livestock, 11 rabbit meat pens (three rabbits to a pen) were sold at the Rabbit Auction and 481 swine, sheep, goats and beef were sold at the Junior Livestock Auction.
