It will be the 124th Merced County Fair. See you there!
The fair doesn’t start until June 10, but the FREE to the public Junior Horse Show for 4-H, FFA and independent junior exhibitors is May 30, at 8 a.m. at the Merced Horsemen’s Association Arena on Nevada Street, just off Highway 59, north of Bellevue Road, in Merced.
It begins with showmanship and includes Western, English, stock horse and trail class events. The gymkhana and barrel racing will start after 11 a.m.
While many participants have already submitted entry forms to compete, any junior exhibitor can sign up for any of the events that day except showmanship. [more]
Bring Your Exhibits to the Fair May 29 & May 30
If you entered exhibits in the fair, Friday, May 29 and Saturday, May 30 are the days to bring those entries to the fairgrounds. Entries will be accepted from noon to 7 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. The deadline to submit most fair entry forms is past. The deadline for Ag-Horticulture entries is Friday, May 29 at 5 p.m. Ag-Horticulture and floral exhibits will be brought to the fair for judging in June. • FREE admission for seniors, 65 years and better, on Mercy Medical Center Seniors Day, Wednesday, June 10 (that's opening day at the Fair).
• FREE admission for children 12 years and younger, on EECU Kids' Day, Thursday, June 11.
• FREE admission with your entry in any of the "Day Of" cooking contests! No advance entry forms, simply enter that day and get free admission with your entry (view this summary of all the "Day Of" contests and also check the Still Exhibits Handbook for complete rules).
Fairgoers will have a chance to meet some of California’s published authors. During the fair, June 10-14, the writers participating in this new “California Authors” program, will be able sell their books directly to the public, sign autographs, make new friends and gain loyal readers. The fair invites published authors to apply to participate in the new program by completing an application form. [more]
