At Fair's Junior Livestock Auction, 619 animals were sold and the sales totaled a whopping $670,090. The number of animals auctioned was up by 54 from the 2014 sale and the total auction sales jumped $91,448. [more]
Merced County Fair Fun Numbers
250. Kits assembled by orange apron-wearing children at the Home Depot Kids’ Workshop.
1,000. Beach Balls. Handed out to fairgoers by Dignity Health on Mercy Medical Center Seniors’ Day.
1,250. Special needs kids and adults and seniors from convalescent homes given the VIP behind-the-scenes tour, visiting the petting zoo and GASCAR animal races, goofing around with Robots & Cars, Tadpole the Clown, dancing and lunch provided by the Elks’ Lodge. Hosted by volunteers at “Friends Helping Friends” event. [more]
Fair Seeking New CEO
The Merced County Fair’s Board of Directors is seeking applicants for CEO position. The job announcement is posted on the Employment web page and copies of the CEO job announcement also are available at the fairgrounds’ office, 900 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Merced. The filing deadline is August 31.
Teresa Burrola, the fair’s Business Assistant, is the interim manager, during the search for a new CEO. “I am leaving the organization in good hands,” said retiring CEO Tom Musser, adding, “Teresa is a strong advocate for the fair. She knows the customers’ needs for year round events and will make the transition run smoothly.” [more]
