Fair Market Beef Weigh-in February 18

A one-day only, mandatory event will be held February 18 for 2010 Merced County Fair market beef exhibitors. All market beef exhibitors – 4-H, FFA and Independents – are required to bring their animals to Turlock Livestock Yard to participate in the event. [See details]

Clay Walker To Perform at Merced Fair

Clay WalkerThe multi-platinum selling country music artist Clay Walker will bring his music to the 2010 Merced County Fair.

Walker will perform for fairgoers on Thursday, June 17 in the fairgrounds’ Outdoor Theatre.

The rest of the entertainment line-up for the fair will soon be announced. Each night a headline entertainment act will appear at 8:30 p.m. in the fairgrounds’ Outdoor Theatre, where all concerts are free with admission. [Read more]

Merced Fairgrounds’ Buildings Renamed

The fairgrounds buildings have been given new names, inspired by Merced County and nearby Yosemite National Park. The Directors’ Lounge (Rock House) is now El Capitan Lodge; the Home Arts Building is now Tioga Hall; Floriculture is now Bridal Veil Gardens; etc. Read the whole story and see a fairgrounds map on the Facilities page.

Winning 2010 Merced Fair Logo is chosen...

Congrats to Mark Keach, first place winner!

Merced County Fair 2010 logo: Wetlands, Water and WildlifeMark Keach submitted the winning entry in the Merced County Fair’s annual logo design contest and he made a big splash with the judges.

Keach’s design will be paired with the fair’s theme, “Wetlands, Water & Wildlife,” to appear on fair promotional materials.

The fair’s Board of Directors selected the winning drawing, which was one of 64 entries. The contest’s second place logo winner is Alan Cleetus and the third place winner is Carlos Lupian, both of Merced. [Read more]

Merced County Fair is moving to June!

The 119th fair is scheduled for June 15-20, 2010, the third week in June. For years, the Merced County Fair has been held in July but the fair is now planned one month earlier. The change is necessary because the California State Fair in Sacramento, which has traditionally been in late August through Labor Day, is expected to be moved up to July, said Thomas D. “Tom” Musser, the Merced County Fair CEO. The 35th District Agricultural Association welcomes you to the Merced County Fair web site. The Fairgrounds is located in Merced, California, part of the sunny central San Joaquin Valley. The Merced County Fair serves the local ag community plus area residents with a fair each July featuring great entertainment, music headliners, rodeo, auto and motorcycle racing, tractor pull, midway fun, rides and thrills for all ages! Our fair exhibitors present an array of exhibits which include agriculture, horticulture, floriculture, art, photography, crafts, hobbies, home arts, mechanical science, large and small animals, horse show, livestock judging and auctions. In addition to the fair, our facilities are available for rent to host a variety of events year around. We have indoor and outdoor rental facilities for trade shows, music productions, dog shows, car shows, wedding receptions, parties, club sponsored events, conventions, conferences, seminars, flea markets, farmers market, home and garden shows, even family and class reunions!
